The QESST (Quantum Energy and Sustainable Solar Technology) Scholar, Coll, won the Perfect Pitch competition for his research project on “Sound Assisted Low Temperature Wafering for Silicon Modules.” His work addressed the issue of waste created during the production of solar panels and displayed new technology that would aid in the development and production of solar panels by helping to reduce costs and increase productions solar cells. The goals of the competition were to bring  together the skills needed for innovation entrepreneurship and innovation along displaying the importance of public speaking and communication.

Coll had previously won competitions at the Engineering Research Center (ERC) level and another competition nationally representing QESST. Coll gave QESST its first win at the NSF Perfect Pitch Competition, and also took home a cash prize of $5,000.
